Our 20 employee non-profit turned to Proledge to replace a contract bookkeeper and we never made a smarter decision. Having grown rapidly in recent years, we needed improved financial management, decision data, and a team that could mesh with our auditor, payroll service, and virtual CFO. Proledge answers all these needs and has assisted in identifying other professional resources from time to time.
ProLedge is a new kind of provider in the bookkeeping profession. Update: I sold my business in 2018 and started a new one in 2020. One of the first things I did was contact ProLedge to renew my working relationship with them based on my previous experience. I requested that Tracey Marshall be assigned to my account and she was joined by Jana Clay who's equally as responsive and professional as Tracey. I really appreciate the nice work they do for me each month with my financial reports.
I have recommended ProLedge to my small business friends and will continue to do so! I have used ProLedge as the bookkeeper for my small business for nearly two years and they are GREAT! Tracey Marshall, my account manager, is easy to work with, efficient, communicative, and responsive to my requests. We have the process down to where I simply send her my business report summaries and bank and credit card statements at the first of each month and she prepares and delivers my GL, P&L, and balance sheet usually within a week.
She also delegates appropriately work that can be handled by one of her bookkeepers to keep my service costs down. My CPA has also been impressed when I've provided him my records prepared by ProLedge when tax time comes around. Overall, I am very satisfied with the professional and affordable services I receive from ProLedge and recommend them to any small business owner in need of bookkeeping services!

Often, 'inconspicuous' can be a positive trait in a bookkeeping service, because little frustrates an entrepreneur or manager like having to spend time on correcting bookkeeping. I've had a few bookkeepers in 12 years of running my own business, and I'd say that Proledge tended to be more slapdash than the others (however, I did use Proledge for 3 years, so they were manageable but with unnecessary and distracting hassle). Examples of issues I found with Proledge: 1) I found some expenses booked one way one month, and then another the next month, so that the P&L had two different expense items that obviously should have been under one expense item. 2) Utility deposit refunds were ignored on a bill that was to be billed to a tenant, so that we undercharged the tenant by $500 until I noticed the error.
These are typical of the types of errors that I found year after year. I found that they rarely appeared to look at the P&L and Balance Sheet to discover problems. They purport that their account management model (where they have a separate account manager) creates consistent quality, but in practice, I found that to be specious. You can use them for a while but ultimately I think you'll find yourself spending too much time correcting their errors. Towards the end, they changed my account manager as a result of my complaints, but the underlying quality issues continued.

I am so happy to have found Proledge. As a small business owner, accounting always seemed to take the back shelf and I was beginning to feel overwhelmed. I hired Proledge and they stepped right in, got up to speed on my QB chart of accounts and helped me with all my accounting needs so I could get back to running my business. I like the fact that they will work with you on your needs and do as much or as little as you need them to do. You can customize your particular company needs and they don't try to fit you into one of their "boxes." I highly recommend them.
