Services
We are accountants and consultants with one mission: to solve our client's state and local tax problems. Peisner Johnson focuses exclusively on state and local tax issues. Our staff includes tax professionals from across the country, and our clients benefit from our extensive knowledge, experience and client-first mentality.
Each business and industry has unique state and local tax needs. From complex nexus laws to stressful state audits, there's a lot to account for if you go it on your own. We've got the right mix of SALT specialization and broad services to handle your tax problems. Peisner Johnson helps you identify your nexus through a thorough review of your operations and state regulations.
When you have state or local tax questions and all you want to know is "What's Next?" We're here to help. Your 'What's Next' call is absolutely free, and it's meant to be a consultative discovery call. We learn about you and your business operations, you learn about us, we answer questions you have, and provide you important details related to nexus, taxability, and how to become compliant. It's not a sales call (though you might very well be interested in what we can do to offer you peace of mind).
We say that because the only way to understand your obligations when it comes to state and local tax is to know which state(s) can impose upon you to collect their tax. But, having Nexus does not automatically mean you have a liability. It depends on the taxability of what you sell. So, to know your obligations, and potential exposure, you need to know your Nexus and your Taxability (NexT).

I had a few questions regarding sale tax nexus and taxabilty of certain products and Jeff from Peisner Johnson did an amazing job in helping me out. As I am a small business owner from germany, I felt a little unsure about the complex taxing system in the US. After the call, I am feeling very confident, now. They were not only professional but you could really feel that they love what their doing.

I think that is really important! As I only had a few questions (sale tax vs use tax and confirming I have all relevant nexus requiremnts on the radar) they didn't charge my a penny (other companys asked for $300) and even offered me free mail support if I have more questions. When my business grows further and my tax tasks rise, they will be my first choice! All in all: professional, very kind and passionate Thanks again for this great call Jeff!

It's very rarely that I write reviews but it's either because things went terribly wrong or they went terribly right. In this case things went terribly wrong. Peisner Johnson is one of those accounting firms that simply does not care about their client and is looking purely for money. I had interactions with them over the course of nearly 6 months to assist me with back sales tax items and I at the end of the day I am astonished that they're still in business with how they treated me as a client.

Long and short of it was, it took three times longer for them to complete the task assigned, they bounced me around between different individuals while I was seeking out assistance in completing the tax returns, and when I pursued an explanation or further assistance because of their delays they told me it would be twice as expensive to correct the issues that they caused.

I was dealing directly with Paul Johnson much of the time which you would assume would provide exceptional service since he is part owner. But you'd be wrong. Additionally in very urgent matters literally they would not get back to me for weeks. End result, was that I found a new firm that is highly attentive, a fraction of the cost, and very proactive. Avoid this firm like the plague and read reviews prior to doing business. They just don't care.

Mike Fleming's ethics are deplorable. Over several weeks, Peisner Johnson & Company did not provide any of the time-sensitive sales tax related services that Mike Fleming committed to. Due to the firm's delays and unresponsiveness in status update requests, and since Michael admitted that he had put work for other clients ahead of mine before leaving on vacation, I was forced to perform the scope of work on my own. Michael Fleming refused to refund the $1000 for services he did not provide, and threatened to bill an additional $700 for out-of-scope services if I requested a refund from PayPal. Avoid this company, as they will expect to be paid without providing services.

I would seriously consider your options before engaging in business with this company. This company has contacted the company I work for at least twice per day everyday this week. Each time they call, they're asking who is in charge of our finances. That is me and I kindly ask them to remove us from their calling list. Without fail I receive at least two more calls the next day from Marshall.

The more times he calls, the angrier he is when I request to be removed and instead he hangs up on me, then calls back. I finally used the Caller ID to find out who these people were and contacted them through Skype. Michael answered was obnoxiously rude when I asked to be removed. I very professionally explained the situation to him and he was less than interested in listening to me or removing my company.

He said "we'll remove you". I then asked who is in charge of their telemarketing? This guy has no clue who I am, what company I am calling from or even what phone number to remove from the call list. He scoffed at me and again very angrily listened as I said the name and number. Finally I reminded him that Federal law specifically states that when someone wants removed from the calling list, we're entitled to that and he is not in compliance.

He became angry again and very unprofessional. I am not at all sure why anyone would think this is a professional or necessary way to get business from others. I realize times are tough right now, but bullying and harassing people into doing business with them? Unacceptable Peisner Johnson Company
