Of all the preparation that goes into creating a successful practice, it is probably the seven years spent in private accounting that has best prepared me for Public Practice. I have found that the issues addressed in private accounting have provided the perfect groundwork for my nine years in public accounting.
I support 15 different accounting software programs. After installing and setting up various accounts, I train bookkeepers in the procedures and idiosyncrasies involved with the programs concerned. At this point I can walk my clients through virtually any procedure over the phone; in like manner I can also trouble shoot a wide variety of bookkeeping and system problems over the phone.
I provide an in-depth evaluation process of the financial statements with owners and managers looking for ways to leverage efficiencies on all streams of income and their related expenses. I use trend analysis on a year-over-year basis to uncover trends and catch problems in their early stages before they adversely affect the bottom line.
