In 1946, S. Berton Heard, Charles McElroy and Charles Vestal founded Heard, McElroy & Vestal, LLC in Shreveport, Louisiana. Heard led the firm as Managing Partner focusing on taxation as well as his peers by serving as one of the first Chairman of the Louisiana Certified Public Accountants (LCPA). McElroy expanded the firm's services from regional to state by opening an office in south Louisiana.
