The CPA I used for many years retired and sold the business to APPEL. This was my first experience with Dave and his team. The bottom line seemed to be turn in the doc and we will call when it is ready. No intake procedure, no questions regarding current employment. I called several times and said my circumstances had changed for the prior reporting year and who should I talk with.
When I inquired who would be doing my taxes got the same response "if we have a question, we will call you". When it got to be the Friday before Tax Day and no calls I called them and asked who was doing my taxes and how much did I owe? Answer from the receptionist, you owe nothing and we are filing an extension. Long story short, got my taxes on 5/6 owed 3K+ and had penalties for filing late which was a great surprise. 500+ for this type of service for a single filer who itemized was over the top.
I paid the amount as I had not asked on the front end due to some other issues and took my reports. Will not be going back and did let Dave know what I thought of the "premium service". The office only told me who was doing my taxes after 20 days of sitting on the form for what was a very simple return. Live and learn. I do realize they have much bigger customers but this interaction in no way resembled what Dave described as service from the office

When we lived in Seattle I had met Dave as a CPA working for another company. He answered some tax questions for me and over the years we have kept in touch. I now live in AZ and still have him do my personal and business taxes. I will not go anywhere else. He and his staff are great. Always top notch. Additionally Sharon is an absolute delight.

Appel & Company have been my CPA for over 15 years and I could not ask for more. David Appel and his team are adept at getting personal and business taxes in order. I have also been through two two tax audits (one state and one federal / IRS) and it was 100% pain free with David and team blasting through the work. Also, the Appel team does a great job of quickly analyzing your specific situation and making recommendations for both short term tax strategies and long term estate planning. I could not imagine working with anyone other than Appel & Company CPA.
